Keep an Eye Out for the Little Green Person!

A “little green person” will be popping up all over the West Island over the next few months. You’ll soon find this person in the windows of local businesses and retailers, arms outstretched, reaching out to fellow citizens to help their neighbours in need. The “little green person” is West Island Community Shares’ logo and is at the heart of a new awareness campaign. The campaign will invite West Island businesses and residents to raise awareness of the organization by placing a sticker with the logo in their windows.
The project is spear-headed by a volunteer team of 20 retail, marketing and sales professionals co-chaired by Doris Cassidy and Kevin Owen of RE/MAX Royal (Jordan). Committee members will approach their network of retailers and business contacts to invite them to participate in the awareness campaign. “West Island Community Shares is about making sure that all residents who need help can find it in their own community,” said Doris Cassidy. “Many businesses believe in this mission and now they can support it simply by placing the sticker in their window.”
The campaign aims to make as many West Islanders as possible aware of the organization and its mission. As such, residents can also support this project by placing the sticker on their car windows or bumpers. “They say there’s strength in the numbers,” said Caroline Tison, executive director of Community Shares. “With more people aware of us and embracing our mission, we’ll be able to help even more West Islanders in need.”
Lakeshore Décor, Multi-Mag Pointe-Claire and Spinelli Lexus are among the business where the stickers can already be found; others will be joining their ranks shortly.
