Biddings wars and friendly competition raise the
stakes at
“Share the Experience” Benefit Auction
Beaconsfield resident Chantal Carrier was pleased to see the lively bidding wars and good-natured competition that were all part of West Island Community Shares’ Benefit Auction on November 10th. As the volunteer President of the Fund Distribution Committee for Community Shares, she knows that 100% of the $61,000 raised at the auction will be distributed to 30 West Island charities. The amount surpassed the event fundraising goal of $11,000 and is a 35% increase over last year.
The “Share the Experience” benefit auction featured 12 priceless experiences such as dinner for four with Guy Carbonneau and a shopping spree and makeover day with Donna Saker of The Q92.5. “The auction is a win/win event,” said Carrier, who is also a member of the organizing committee. “People have a good time and the chance to buy unique experiences and all the proceeds go to charity.”
More than 100 people attended the auction held at La Sirène de la Mer Restaurant in Pointe-Claire. In addition to the unique experiences that were up for bid, a silent auction took place throughout the evening. All experiences and auction items were donated by individuals and businesses. In addition, leaders from the world of the arts, politics and sports generously donated their time by agreeing to be part of the experiences.
“I would like to sincerely thank our guests, donors, sponsors and volunteers for making this event so successful,” said Caroline Tison, executive director. “Their contribution ultimately helps us to provide crucial funds to 30 West Island charities that help 27,000 residents in need.”
Event partners included Pfizer Canada, the Q92.5, National Bank Financial Group, 40 Westt Steakhouse, Desjardins Caisse populaire Ste-Geneviève de Pierrefonds, Rib ‘n Reef Steakhouse, Anton Designs, Bios4Ever, Carmine’s Tuscany Grill, Duocom, Claudia’s Catering Service, Cookie et sa garde-robe, Katerina Mertikas, Le Chambertin, Marlowe, Vieux Four Manago, Claudia’s Catering Service and Rideau.
