West Island Community Shares’ Tournament Raises
$95,000
Pointe-Claire, June 14, 2010 – Step 1: Take the beautiful Beaconsfield Golf Course and six West Island corporate event partners. Step 2: On the golf course, add a vodka and a rum sampling along with a tasting from 40 Westt Steakhouse and Restaurant Le Chambertin. Top off with fresh fruit and ice cream. Step 3: Sprinkle with fun contests like hole in one and beat the pro competitions with great prizes to be won. Result: On June 7th, this recipe helped West Island Community Shares to raise $95,000 – a 12% increase over last year – at its 12th Annual Golf tournament.
“We are very excited about this result because the proceeds will help to finance our 2010-2011 fundraising campaign and provide funding to 33 local charitable organizations,” said Caroline Tison, Executive Director of Community Shares.
The success of the event was made possible by Merck, who received a special award for being the lead event partner for the 12th year in a row. Other event partners included Pfizer Canada Inc., TD Bank Financial Group, IMS Health, Mercedes-Benz West Island and Restaurant Le Chambertin.
More than 160 people from other businesses and charitable organizations also
rallied to support Community Shares by playing in the tournament, attending the
dinner or volunteering. “The TD Financial Group is proud to partner with
Community Shares for its annual golf tournament,” said Claude Papasian,
Vice-President, West District, Quebec Region, TD Canada Trust and Community
Shares board member. “It’s a great event that helps to raise crucial funds
for 33 very worthwhile causes.”
On the course food and beverage tastings
were generously offered by Signature Vodka, El Dorado Rum, West Island IGA and
IGA Extra stores,40 Westt Steakhouse, Le Chambertin and Lambert Ice cream.
Golfers also had the opportunity to win prizes offered by Mercedes Benz West
Island, Mansfield Pointe-Claire, Spa CurAge and Pharmaprix on competition
holes. Air Canada contributed to the tournament’s success by donating a
raffle prize of a trip for two to anywhere in North America while Avon offered a
gift bag to all participants. Lunch and dinner for close to 30 volunteers
was graciously offered by Aqua Spa Lyne Giroux.
Many other businesses and corporations generously donated Items for both the live and silent auctions held at the tournament.
